For the BPRD Urban Forestry Division to consider cutting new tree pits and installing a new tree where one did not exist previously, we require that the abutting business/property owner be the one who makes this request for a new tree pit to be cut in front of their location. Each individual abutting property owner can submit their request by calling 617-635-TREE (8733) or using the 311 mobile app or calling 311 to request a new tree be planted in front of their property. The BPRD requires a current active phone number and email address of each property owner who is requesting a new tree in order for the BPRD to confirm that the individual requesting the new tree is the current property owner. Once this information is received and ownership is confirmed, the site will be inspected for planting.

CLOSED #101006314507Noted. The new tree in question is under warranty by the planting contractor for two years from the date it was planted. All new trees are inspected every summer during the warranty period by a BPRD staff arborist to make sure they are alive and healthy. If they are found to be dead, they will be placed on the warranty replacement list for the contractor to replace in the next planting season. This tree is on the contractors list for replacement.
