    Intersection Of Glenmont Rd And Lake St, Brighton, Ma

    I am writing to report a serious safety concern regarding a newly installed stop sign on Lake Street at the intersection with Glenmont Road. This stop sign has effectively transformed the intersection into an all-way stop, which is a positive step toward improving traffic control in the area. However, the new stop sign is not visible enough and many drivers fail to notice it in time, if at all. As a result, vehicles often approach the intersection coming down from Lake St at sustained speeds without slowing down or stopping, creating very hazardous conditions for other road users, including pedestrians and cross traffic from Glenmont Road. I recommend the installation of a larger and/or light-enhanced stop sign and advance signage.

    Case Noted. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. BTD has did further investigation and found the stop sign on Lake St is unauthorized. This is a "T" intersection and typically the continuing street has the right of way. BTD has reevaluated the effectiveness of the stop sign at this location and it was found to be ineffective. BTD will be removing the stop sign on Lake St. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.
