This sign is not secured properly to the sign pole and the signs on either side of the pole rattle against each other. Could you please fix this? I think both signs just need to be securely fastened to the pole. The pole is located at the intersection of Dorchester Street and Ward Street in South Boston (see attachment below). Thank you!

  • Damaged Sign

359 Huntington Ave, Boston, Ma, 02115

This is a complaint regarding the "Bikes may use full lane" street sign on Huntington Ave between Opera Pl and Forsyth St, same side of street as Northeastern Gym and Tatte. It is hanging far too low (appears to be attached with a wire, perhaps it fell from higher up), and poses a pedestrian and cyclist safety risk. This sign is positioned at a sort of "blind spot" height for an average height woman. I am 5'3" and grazed the side of it with my forehead yesterday when walking back home after a run, approaching the wooden sign which blends in more with the surrounding landscape. I've had several more near-misses with this sign as I am on this street almost every day. If it's low enough for someone of my height to hit it, it's too low! For passing cyclists, it's also dangerously low if they happen to be riding close enough to the sidewalk for any reason, which could occur during busy times. The last photo shows my forehead at the height of the sign for reference. Would it be possible to move the sign to a separate post where it can be higher up, or else place it higher up and put the Tow Zone sign below? Thank you for your consideration and care for our city!
