have safety concerns regarding the electrical and plumbing safety of my apartment building (I am a renter). I have tried to reach out to my property manager through email, phone, and the maintenance line over the past week and have not heard back. I live at 216B South St., Apt D, in Jamaica Plain in the Fordham Court Apartment Buildings spanning South St. and St. Mark St. run by the Samia Companies. I believe this issue was occurring throughout my entire half of the building, which runs from 216-220 South St (and maybe further). The incident that caused concern occurred on 07/30 between 8:30 am and 7:30 pm. On Thursday morning, there was a large puddle of water on the ground in the hallway outside of my garden-level apartment. Worrying that there might be a leak from the ceiling above me, I called maintenance at 9:00 am. At 1:00 pm, I followed up with a phone call back, and the person on the maintenance line told me that someone was there working on it. Despite asking, I never received a follow-up call to learn the resolution or origin of the leak. When I returned home at 6:30 pm, the fire alarm was going off at 2-3 min intervals. Residents and their pets were concerned and unsure of what was going on/whether to evacuate. I called emergency maintenance again and was told they would leave a message to send someone to check it out. After another 20 minutes of the fire alarm going off, my neighbors and I called 911, and the fire department arrived and assured us there was no fire, but that there was an electrical problem our landlord needed to fix. Another 20 minutes after that, maintenance finally assured us that the fire alarm was "turned off", but with no other explanation. The firefighters told us that this was the third time they had come to the building that day, which raises major plumbing/electrical concerns. After this incident occurred, we received no explanation from property management about what occurred or what was being done to fix it, and therefore I'd like to request a safety inspection of the building. Constituent has reported that their central air system has not been repaired/replaced after breaking by the landlord. Constituent states that it was determined that the entire system may need to be replaced, but no tempprary solution or accomodation has been made by the landlord.
