Illegal Dumping or Disposal
122 Union Park St, Boston, MA 02118Hello. My partner and I just moved into 122 Union Park St. I am seeking advice because we are dealing with a neighbor who is doing something that is illegal and concerning. We live in one of three units in the building. The other two apartments have both moved out recently and been leaving their trash on days that aren't trash pickup days. We don't know these people and really cannot control what they do. I don't agree with them doing this, but what are we going to do to stop it. Anyways - the issue has to do with what our neighbor has been doing. He seems to have taken an approach of taking matters into his own hands. He picks up the bags or boxes of trash and throws them into the stairwell leading to the basement of the building. He has done it at least 3 times now. While I appreciate the fact the other units have not been respecting the trash pickup days, I do not think it's right for this man to illegally dump trash into our stairwell. I then am forced to go out and pick up this trash that isn't even mine and is pretty disgusting bc the bags have split open and contents have fallen out. I do this because otherwise it makes our building which is already in slight disrepair look very trashy and unkempt. Do you have any advice on how I can go about resolving this? Is he allowed to do this? Again, we respect the rules but have zero control over others, and while I understand that he may not like the situation he should file a report rather than take matters into his own hand, as his actions are equally as inappropriate and also likely illegal.
