Brockton St & Cummins HwyThe recent Cummins Highway redesign has made the corridor significantly more dangerous and far less functional for drivers. The extreme road narrowing and lane reduction have created a constant bottleneck, forcing cars to squeeze through sections that simply aren’t designed for the current traffic volume. Instead of improving safety, the redesign has pushed drivers into surrounding neighborhoods as they try to avoid the Cummins Hwy choke point, which has made residential streets more congested and less safe for the people who actually live there. Even worse, turning off Cummins onto nearby two‑way streets has become a disaster waiting to happen. For example, Hallowell, Brockton, Savannah. The narrowed openings leave almost no room for safe turning, especially when multiple vehicles are approaching from different directions. It’s an unnecessary hazard that puts everyone at risk. Overall, the redesign has not improved traffic flow. It has created new problems and pushed traffic onto side streets. A reevaluation of the current layout is urgently needed before more accidents occur.
