Location: 1880 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton, MA 02135 – Unit 16 Description of Issue: Housing Code and Sanitary Hazards (105 CMR 410.000). I moved into Unit 16 yesterday, Monday, August 31, 2026, and identified several habitability and safety concerns within the unit. I have comprehensive timestamped photo and video evidence, as well as written admissions from the landlord, for the items below: Defective Kitchen Oven & Circuit Breakers: The kitchen stovetop and oven failed to shut off and continued to heat uncontrollably. The power indicator light on the stove flickered on and off randomly. It was in this state (i.e., fully on and hot to the touch) when I arrived. Based on statements from my landlord, I have reason to believe it may have been in this state for several days. To eliminate a potential fire hazard, with written permission from my landlord, I had to turn off the main circuit breakers. The landlord acknowledged yesterday via text message that her cleaning staff noted an issue with the stove prior to my move-in, but she failed to inspect or repair it.
