Trash Issue

The conditions caused by the restaurant located below my unit have become unbearable and require intervention from the City. For years, we have attempted to address the ongoing grease and cooking odors directly with the restaurant owners, but the problem has not been resolved. The grease smell regularly permeates our property and living space and has become extremely disruptive. There is also significant grease and residue staining on the exterior of the property. We have concerns regarding the restaurant’s ventilation and filtration system, including whether the grease filters are being properly and routinely maintained or replaced. Additionally, the restaurant maintains a walk-in cooler in our garage that is used to store food, which is transported back and forth between the garage and the restaurant. There have been multiple rat sightings in the vicinity of this food storage area, creating additional sanitation and public health concerns. After years of attempting to resolve these issues directly without meaningful improvement, we are asking the City to inspect the restaurant’s ventilation and grease-control systems, food storage practices, pest-control conditions, and overall compliance with applicable health and building requirements. The odor, grease accumulation, and sanitation concerns are significantly affecting our ability to enjoy and maintain our property, and we are asking the City to intervene.
