Illegal Parking
2400 Beacon St, Brighton, Ma, 02135There are dozens of cars parked in the eastbound bike lane on Beacon Street near Cleveland Circle, despite the recent repaving, and the presence of signs that say “THIS IS A BIKE LANE”. Maybe this stretch of bike lane by Cassidy Playground should be painted green, and physically protected by barriers, to signal to car drivers to keep away. And maybe the city can erect some signs to direct cars to the many open parking spaces on the other side of the street and nearby parking lots. (To be charitable to these specific cars today, I think there are some outdated 2hour parking signs still posted on this stretch, which the city should remove ASAP to avoid confusion.) Otherwise, this remains a very dangerous location for cyclists, just as it was prior to the otherwise excellent repaving project.
