Drugs and paraphernalia found throughout Boston common following the marijuana festival. This photo shows a crushed bottle of “dark crush” which contains concentrated nicotine. Please ensure that the entire common is cleaned immediately following festival and recommend not allowing license for this festival next year as there was extensive drug use throughout the park and it poses a serious hazard to users of the Park, especially children and dogs. Of note, I already brought this issue and photo to a Park Ranger, who was extremely rude and dismissive, including correcting me and insisting that I call it the “freedom festival” rather than referencing marijuana to refer to the event, insisting that that bottle lying on the lawn posed no potential harm to dogs or other wildlife because it was sealed, even though I verified that it was not having been the one to pick up and discard it, and the photo clearly shows that the bottle was broken, and insisting incorrectly that there was no risk of a fatal overdose. This is a dangerous misunderstanding as a very small amount of nicotine can cause fatal poison poisoning to a dog, especially a small breed, or a child. Please ensure that Park Rangers are retrained on the hazards of nicotine, marijuana and other street drug refuse. This is particularly important as many drug products can be extremely dangerous even in very small quantities and there are no circumstances in which a ranger should be hostile to a citizen reporting concerns.

Trash bins are consistently left out days after pickup.
