OPENED citizen feedback:. Dear Parks and Rec. Department,. The tree in question was NOT pruned by Northern Tree Service; rather, we spent $2,200 to have the branches overhanging our property pruned by an independent contractor. However, the first and foremost issue has not been addressed, and that is the danger on the sidewalk to pedestrians. The roots of the tree have caused the brick sidewalk to buckle severely, and even without ice and snow, it is extremely uneven and easy to trip and fall. Anyone with any sort of ambulatory handicap, including bad knees or a walking impairment would be at considerable risk under inclement weather conditions. There are many elderly residents in the immediate area, and the City of Boston would do these people and the rest of the neighborhood a great disservice to close this case without addressing the danger posed and the potential for costly lawsuits.
