  • Rodent Activity

18 Melvin Ave, Brighton, Ma, 02135

The rat and rodent problem on Melvin Avenue, Allston Avenue, Corey Road, and Carroll Avenue has become completely unacceptable. The number of rats has increased to the point where it is affecting residents’ ability to walk safely through the neighborhood. Last night, around 8:00 p.m., my fiancé accidentally stepped on a rat while simply walking down the sidewalk. This is no longer an occasional nuisance, it is a serious public health and quality-of-life issue. Rats are frequently visible in the evenings, and the problem appears to be getting worse rather than better. We need the City to take immediate action by increasing inspections, identifying and addressing sources of infestation, improving waste management, and implementing a comprehensive rodent control strategy for the neighborhood. Residents should not have to worry about encountering rats on the sidewalk every time they leave their homes. Please prioritize this issue before it continues to worsen.
