90 Windsor St, Mission Hill, Ma, 02120This letter serves as a formal and urgent request for social services intervention regarding an ongoing issue at 90 Windsor Street, Boston, MA 02120. For approximately the past month, a homeless individual has been residing directly in front of the building. While we recognize this is a delicate issue involving a vulnerable person, the situation is creating significant public health and quality-of-life concerns for the residents. The individual has accumulated a large number of shopping carts containing trash and debris. Furthermore, the area is being used for basic physiological needs, resulting in a severe and persistent sanitation issue and an intolerable odor. We were previously advised to contact the police; however, repeated attempts have proven ineffective. Police officers have driven by without taking action, as the individual is not actively committing a criminal offense. We firmly believe this is a matter requiring the expertise of social and outreach services rather than law enforcement, as it appears to stem from a lack of adequate assistance and care. The individual is effectively squatting in an area with minimal resources. We are also observing a noticeable increase in homelessness and visible drug use in the Lower Roxbury area. We understand this may be an unintended consequence of ongoing efforts to address the crisis in the Mass and Cass area, and we respectfully request that resources be allocated to prevent Lower Roxbury residents from bearing the disproportionate burden of this dispersal. We urgently request the deployment of a trained outreach team to engage with this individual, assess their needs, and connect them with appropriate shelter, mental health, and/or sanitation services. We appreciate your immediate attention to this critical matter.
