General Traffic Engineering Request
Intersection Of Hallowell St And Cummins Hwy, Mattapan, MaResubmited from BCS-00246376: This is a traffic safety issue that needs BTD’s attention. The two-way side streets off Cummins Highway have extremely narrow openings, and cars are parked all the way to the end of each block. This makes it dangerous for drivers turning off Cummins into these streets because there is no space for two vehicles to pass each other safely. A head-on collision feels inevitable. The photos provided from tonight do not show how bad it usually is. There is a slight opening only because one car did not park fully to the end on the opposite side. On most days, cars are parked right up to the corner on both sides, leaving zero clearance and making the turn extremely difficult. The photos provided from tonight do not show how bad it usually is. There is a slight opening only because one car did not park fully to the end on the opposite side. On most nights, cars are parked right up to the corner on both sides, leaving zero clearance and making the turn almost impossible. Please review this location urgently and consider widening the openings to prevent collisions and improve emergency access etc. This truly feels like an engineering failure.
