Residential Trash out Illegally
110 Charles St, Boston, Ma, 02114My issue doesn't really fit the category, but no listed category did fit my issue. Here is my frustration: As you know, in Massachusetts, it is now illegal to dispose of textiles. I wouldn't care if it were legal or not, I don't want to put usable textile items in the trash. I want them to be re-used. A few years ago, I had HELPSY come out to pick up a large load of textile items. That worked really well, but they don't want to come out for the occasional item, and as I'm sure you know well, Beacon Hill apartments do not afford space for saving up textile items to donate. Also consider that most Beacon Hill residents do not keep a car in the city, and that there are no textile-recycling bins that they can walk to. This means that Beacon Hillers, who probably have the most re-usable textile items, will be discarding those items in regular household trash--so sad and unnecessary and necessitated by the city's inattention. What will you do to rectify this mismatch between the law (and/or a desire to act responsibly) and possibility? Something, I hope.
