Broken Sidewalk at 128 Marginal St Jeffries Point
The intersection of Marginal and Cottsge street needs an updated Stop sign that flashes when people cross the street. Cars often blow through this stop sign despite the fact that this is a hugely busy pedestrian area because of Piers Park.
CLOSED
Case Resolved. BTD does not carry "flashing" red stop signs. This is a "T" intersection and a typical installation for this intersection do not have stop signs on the main street. Stop signs are installed for right of way access. These signs were probably installed without a stop sign warrant analysis. Vehicles therefore roll through the stop sign when there are no vehicles present on the minor street. If a stop sign warrant analysis were to be performed and deemed not warranted, the stop sign would have to be removed under the federal guidelines from the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Once the stop signs are removed, other traffic calming methods would have to be analyzed such as adding pedestrian warning signs, possibly a "flashing" L.E.D. pedestrian warning signs that would probably prove to be more effective when pedestrians are present. The stop sign would remain on the minor street to give right of way for the main street. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD. -
