Intersection Of Park St And Warren St, Charlestown, MaThis is a general complaint about Moped riders, appearing to be food delivery workers not following traffic rules. This creates safety issues for pedestrians who are using sidewalks and crosswalks and other vehicles on the road. Numerous violations are witnessed of Mopeds abusing traffic laws: -Running red lights -Driving through cross walks when people are crossing the street -Driving the wrong way on one-way streets -Driving on sidewalks when pedestrians are present 2 specific examples: A week ago I was driving behind a Moped on Cambridge street near Mass General and witnessed them run 3 red lights and then cut in front of oncoming traffic to make a left turn at another red light. Another time in Charlestown. I was walking at the intersection of Warren St. and Park St., a Moped ran the stop sign and proceeded the wrong way up park st. right in front of a Boston Police vehicle. Nothing was done, no enforcement…eventhough it happened right in front of law enforcement. I have not witnessed any example of the city enforcing basic traffic laws on Mopeds. We see examples of this behavior every time we are out walking in the city. It is a wonder there are not more accidents and more injuries or deaths related to this abuse of our traffic laws. Without any visible enforcement, Moped drivers are emboldened to ride with impunity. What can the city do about this problem?
