Subject: Formal Health Complaint – Barcelona Wine Bar, 1700 Beacon Street Dear Health Department, I am writing to formally report potential food safety and sanitation violations observed at Barcelona Wine Bar, located at 1700 Beacon Street. During my visit, I observed two mice in the dining area moving toward the kitchen. The presence of rodents in an area where food is served raises serious concerns about sanitation, possible food contamination, and the restaurant’s pest-control practices. Additionally, I observed staff members handling soiled dishes removed from dining tables and then proceeding to cut bread without washing their hands in between. This raised concerns about proper hand hygiene and the potential for cross-contamination of food. These observations raise serious concerns regarding the establishment’s compliance with applicable food safety, sanitation, pest-control, and employee handwashing requirements. I respectfully request that the Health Department investigate these concerns and conduct an inspection to determine whether corrective action is necessary to protect public health. I am submitting this complaint in the interest of public health and the safety of customers who dine at this establishment.
