I am submitting an urgent complaint regarding disruptive overnight construction activity near 255 St. Botolph Street (including active gas leak repair and demolition/utility work related to the neighboring Northeastern project). Conducting noisy heavy-equipment construction overnight under the assumption that daytime traffic on St. Botolph Street is "too busy" is completely unacceptable and disproportionate. St. Botolph is a residential side street carrying minimal off-peak daytime traffic (approx. 5 vehicles per minute). Sacrificing the health and sleep of hundreds of residents across multiple residential buildings for low-volume traffic flow is an unreasonable trade-off. Specific Issues & Demands: 1. Noise Ordinance: The level of overnight noise violates basic residential quiet-hours expectations and is causing severe sleep deprivation for nearly 300 nearby residents. 2. Permit Audit: Please audit the active After-Hours Work Permits (AHWP) for this stretch of St. Botolph Street. If an emergency gas leak repair permit expired around August 19th and was pushed overnight due to Northeastern construction conflicts, contractor scheduling convenience cannot be prioritized over residential health. 3. Action Requested: I request an immediate noise inspection during overnight hours, a review to restrict work strictly to standard daytime hours, and temporary daytime lane closures/detours to accommodate daytime work instead.
