Intersection Of Cummins Hwy And Favre St, Mattapan, MaI am reaching out regarding the broader redesign of Cummins Highway and its connecting streets. While I understand the intent to improve pedestrian safety and traffic calming, the changes have created unintended consequences that are affecting residents daily. Many streets feeding into Cummins Highway have been narrowed, making it extremely difficult for cars to safely turn onto two-way streets. With no parking restrictions in place, vehicles often block critical sightlines and turning, creating dangerous conditions. The narrowing has made navigation hazardous, especially when multiple cars are pulling off Cummins Highway and/or another vehicle is pulling onto a side street at the same time. I would like clarification on what traffic, safety, and accessibility studies were conducted to justify these changes. Specifically, how were snow removal, emergency vehicle access, and parking enforcement considered in the planning process? Residents deserve safer, more functional streets, and I urge the city to revisit these designs and to consider making adjustments.

Intersection Of Cummins Hwy And Favre St, Mattapan, MaI am writing to express serious concerns about the recent redesign of Favre Street where it meets Cummins Highway. The narrowing of the roadway and addition of a new curve have created significant challenges for both residents and city services. • Snow plows were unable to make it down the street during the recent storm and had to back down the street. • Cars parked at the end of the street now block critical turning space, making navigation difficult for regular vehicles and nearly impossible for larger service vehicles. • The redesign has introduced hazards that were not present before.
