- Noise- road work and heavy drilling has been going on the last week on Hanover street through the night. Why?? Can't they do this during the day and let the neighborhood get some sleep.

Case Noted | The Boston Public Works Department has been trying to pave Hanover St for the last 5 years We held off knowing the major utility companies wanted to first replace old water mains, sewer mains, gas mains, and install new fiber optic conduit for improved cell phone service. Some of the mains were over 100 years old. Having new upgraded dependable utility service is a plus for the North End neighborhood. Because of all the businesses and traffic, it would be extremely difficult to resurface Hanover St during the day time. If we did it during the day, it would take well over a month. By doing it nights and weekends, we will complete the job in 10 working days, weather permitting. The Engineers are trying to minimize the noise after 11pm
