Description
Case was opened 2 weeks ago and no response - West 8th Street in front of 199 West 8th Street was improperly repaved from apparent utility work in the roadway. There is a larger repaved area in front of 199 West 8th Street building. The grading of the repaved roadway surface is uneven - it is too close to the curb near the entry part of 199 West 8th Street (it appears too much blacktop was added in that particular area). During heavy/significant precipitation events, the water goes over the curb because of too much grading/blacktop, and onto the sidewalk and has gone into 199 West 8th Street building, causing interior water damage - rather than along West 8th Street and into catch basin over by Lark Street. As shown in the photo, the height of the roadway (that is, the distance between the surface and the curb) is higher near entry of 199 West 8th Street (right side of curb in picture) than the other portion (left side of curb in picture). Road needs to be regraded and repaved.

Case Noted | All over the City, edgestone heights vary. I have inspected this location and if the builder of the property at 199 West 8th Street built their walkway higher, then the edgestone could be higher. As it is, the water flows without too much of a problem and should not be a hazard. If the roadway was lowered that the driveway would have a significant lip and you would also have a significant puddle.
