Description
It's great that the Opera Place crossing and the Huntington Ave. (westbound) crossing have audible pedestrian signals. Please consider adding tactile tiles/detectable warnings here. This location is a couple blocks from National Braille Press which employs some individuals who are blind and take the Green Line E branch to/from Northeastern Station. The curb cuts are wide and during some times of day the sidewalk between the westbound lanes of Huntington and the tracks is crowded when pedestrians are waiting to let a trolley pass. For someone who is blind it can be difficult to make sure one has stepped onto the sidewalk out of the street there. Tactile tiles/detectable warning would be helpful at all three corners but between Huntington westbound and the sidewalk along the tracks should be prioritized. Case Noted | The City of Boston has a aggressive plan to update all of their pedestrian ramps and bring them all into compliance with the ADA. With over 25,000 ramps we cannot do them all at the same time and average approximate 1,000-1,200 ramps a year. These ramps are on the schedule to be updated. If you have any further questions, or feel that this case was closed in error, please do not hesitate to contact me.
