- Description
- Apparently people don't understand what social distancing and the stay at home advisory is about. This is unacceptable. People like this are causing this virus to spread. I thought the Boston playgrounds/parks were closed? Something needs to be done.

Case Noted | Boston Parks Are Here For You Dear Friend, We wanted to update you on the work we've been doing to help "flatten the curve" and slow the spread of COVID-19 here in Boston. You may know that we've mobilized staff to post signs stating that playgrounds are closed. Yesterday, we placed new signage in courts citywide, printed with the following statement: "To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and encourage social distancing, group sports activities on these courts are temporarily suspended. This includes but is not limited to: basketball, soccer, street hockey, tennis, and pickleball." We are glad to have the signs in place to educate those who may be unaware of the temporary closures. Basketball nets were secured over the past weekend and early this week. Street hockey nets were removed yesterday. In the next few days we will be securing soccer nets. At this time, we are asking residents to practice social distancing in the City of Boston. Parks are open for "passive use", such as walking, jogging, or cycling. We've shared messages explaining "social distancing" via social media and our website, in addition to posting signs.
