- ANTHONY MEEKS RESIDENT/VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY ADVOCATE FOR UPHAMS CORNER COMMUNITY, DORCHESTER, BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS EMAIL: ANTHONYMEEKS41@YAHOO.COM COMMENDATION & ACCOMMODATION REPORT DEPARTMENT: BOSTON PUBLIC HEALTH COMMISSION (BPHC) TARGET UNIT: MOBILE SHARPS TEAM ("RED DOGS") / NEEDLE RECOVERY TEAM LOCATION OF IMPACT: UPHAMS CORNER, DORCHESTER DESCRIPTION OF EXCELLENCE: I am submitting this official commendation and accommodation request to recognize the outstanding public safety and public health services provided by Clinton and the BPHC Mobile Sharps Needle Recovery Team (affectionately known as the "Red Dogs"). As a dedicated resident and volunteer community advocate for Uphams Corner, I witness firsthand the daily, hazardous challenges of municipal upkeep and the critical necessity of proactive substance abuse outreach. While structural leadership across municipal agencies often falters, the frontline workers of the Mobile Sharps Team demonstrate unparalleled dedication, bravery, and professionalism. Day in and day out, these workers venture into our public squares, streets, and community flower beds to safely recover discarded needles, directly protecting our most vulnerable populations—including seniors, students, and the visually or physically challenged. Their swift, tireless intervention ensures that our community spaces remain safe for children to play without the terror of biohazards. The everyday employees of the Needle Recovery Team are hardworking, blameless, and deeply empathetic to the plight of Dorchester residents. Clinton and the entire crew represent the finest foundation of community-oriented public servitude. Their tireless efforts mitigate local hazards, restore neighborhood dignity, and save lives. They deserve the highest city accolades, sustainable program funding, and deep administrative recognition. Thank you, Mobile Sharps Team, for your unwavering commitment to Uphams Corner.
