Good Afternoon, I am a teacher at the Edison. We continue to have bus issues. Which we have in-depth data about. We have contact the transportation department, City counselors, and BPS directly. One particular bus has been left uncovered at dismissal 2 times last week and 2 times this week. ( 7 times since we came back from break on 1/5) That bus has 62 students. That means 62 students do not have a ride home today. Parents have had to leave their jobs 4 times in 2 weeks. Losing wages and in some cases risking losing their jobs. Many parents do not have cars, they have to pay for Uber or take public transportation. Parents send their students to school with the assumption they will have transportation home. It affects student attendance because parents feel like they can’t afford to leave work to pick up their children. What BPS is doing to these parents is disrespectful! They are taking advantage of our parents because they know due to the political climate our parents will not complain. They are afraid! Thank you for your attention.
