Pest Infestation - Residential
Hello. I have been a tenant of 318 Summit Avenue, 02135 since June of last year. Although I will be moving out soon, I am incredibly concerned about pests in the building. There is strong evidence of rats in the basement. It often smells of pee and one of the storage units has a very soiled mattress covered in rat droppings. There are signs from 2021 stating that due to rats in the building, garbage bins were moved outside. The trash bins outside are not well maintained, and rats are often visible at any time of day. At night during warm months they can be very clearly heard. I have personally run into rats almost every time I have taken the trash out. I have not seen any inside my apartment, but a blanket I left on the second floor fire escape now has rat poop on it. They are a real issue living here and I do not think the management is doing nearly enough to reduce or control the problem. I understand that rats will exist in ubran settings, but they should not be freely living beside us to this degree. 6178930860
