I'm writing to request the immediate removal of the Israeli flag currently displayed in front of City Hall. The presence of the flag is deeply troubling to me as it may be viewed as a reflection of the city's values or official stance. The Israeli government is committing genocide in Gaza. In May 2024, the Boston City Council adopted a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Flying the Israeli flag at City Hall runs counter to the spirit of that resolution, and does not meet the requirements of a 2022 City of Boston ordinance, which only allows for flags that represent the City's values.
