Is it possible to get porta potties at Dot Park? For such a beautiful large lark it stands out. People have to go in the woods.

I’m submitting this because I’m very concerned about something I’ve repeatedly seen at Draper Pool over the past couple of weeks. I recently started bringing my child to swim team practice there, and on multiple occasions, I have seen the same lifeguard appearing to be asleep while working. My family typically comes to the pool in the mornings or early afternoons, and we honestly fell in love with the facility this past summer. There are so many great things available for children, and we were really excited to have found a place where our kids could swim, participate in activities, and enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, this experience has been the complete opposite of what we expected and has made me seriously question whether I feel comfortable continuing to bring my children here. As a parent, seeing a lifeguard appearing to sleep while responsible for watching children is extremely concerning. I understand there may be circumstances I’m not aware of, and I don’t want to make assumptions about the individual. But when someone is responsible for supervising children in a pool, they need to be alert and attentive. Things can happen in a matter of seconds and knowing that a lifeguard may not be fully attentive while my child and other children are swimming is not something I can simply overlook. I’ve also noticed that many of the lifeguards appear to be younger or still in school. I understand that young people and students make up a large part of the city pools we’ve been to. So if staff are becoming too tired to remain alert during later hours, maybe management could consider whether an earlier pool schedule or different arrangements could help ensure lifeguards are rested and able to properly perform their responsibilities. Whatever the solution may be, I just want to know that the staffing and schedule are being looked at with the safety of the children in mind. I actually tried to speak with someone at the pool about this last week, but each time I came in, the front desk and office were unattended, so I wasn’t able to find a manager or someone I could directly bring my concerns to. That is why I’m submitting this here and hoping it reaches someone who can properly look into the situation. It is especially disappointing because we really enjoyed the facility and wanted this to be a place where our children could spend time and participate in activities. But if this continues, we will have to seriously reconsider bringing our children to the pool and I certainly cannot feel comfortable having my child continue on the swim team if I don’t feel confident that the pool is being properly supervised. I sincerely hope management will look into this promptly and take whatever steps are necessary to make sure the pool is being properly supervised. As a parent, I should not have to question whether my child is safe while participating in an activity that is supposed to be supervised by trained lifeguards. I would really appreciate seeing this addressed before something potentially preventable happens.

Signage outside Sweeney Playground (both entrances) needs to be updated to white out in the park rules signs the rule that dogs have to be on leashes. There is a giant sign on both entrances “no dogs allowed” and then a tiny note on the rules sign saying dogs must be on leashes. People rely on the small note/inconsistent signage and use this playground as a dog park (literally dog walkers take packs of dogs here), it’s gross and unsanitary for a children’s playground.

One of these pillars is not secure. I am surprised to see that it's still there! Given that yesterday, I looked across the street from my building and saw that it had topped over, and not sure if that was involved with the injury of the girls foot. But I think someone should either remove these pillars, or at least make sure they are 100% secure. Because the second one is still wobbly.
