I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the conduct of the individual operating Boston Municipal vehicle MB 1586 on August 11, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., in the area of 150 Condor Street, East Boston. The individual was in uniform and appeared to be working in connection with the construction activity taking place on Condor Street. While operating the municipal vehicle, the driver was traveling approximately 15 mph below the posted speed limit and was impeding traffic while engaged in conversation with his passenger. I informed him that he was impeding traffic. In response, the driver made a racially derogatory personal remark directed at me concerning the size and shape of my nose. I do not want to characterize his words as a verbatim quotation because I cannot guarantee the precise wording from memory. However, I am confident about the substance and nature of the comment: it was a racially derogatory remark concerning my physical features. My complaint is not simply that the employee insulted me. My concern is that an individual representing the City, while in uniform, apparently working, and operating a municipal vehicle, responded to a member of the public with a racially derogatory comment after being questioned about his conduct while operating that vehicle. This appears inconsistent with the standards of professionalism, respectful communication, equitable treatment of constituents, and respect for diversity expected of City of Boston employees. I have a photograph of the vehicle clearly showing Boston Municipal registration MB 1586 at the location and can provide the original photograph. I am requesting that the City: 1. Identify the department or agency responsible for MB 1586. 2. Identify internally the employee who was operating the vehicle at approximately 1:30 p.m. on August 11, 2026. 3. Forward this complaint to that employee’s supervisor and appropriate departmental management or Human Resources personnel. 4. Formally investigate the employee’s conduct, including the racially derogatory comment. 5. Preserve any vehicle-assignment records, work orders, crew rosters, dispatch records, GPS/telematics information, or other records capable of establishing who was operating MB 1586 at that time. 6. Provide me with a complaint or case number and inform me which City department has been assigned responsibility for reviewing this matter. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. near 150 Condor Street, East Boston, Massachusetts, on August 11, 2026.

Neighbors have weeds and lots of rat activity. We live at 34 chestnut ave and have had pest control on our every 2 weeks for the 2 months due to rats burrowing around our building, and the pest experts believe that they are spilling onto our property from our neighbors at 32 chestnut ave due to the excess garbage and overgrown weeds on their property. We would love if they could keep their barrels tidy (ideally replace ones with holes) and cut back the overgrowth that abuts our property. Thank you!
