  • Planting Request

59 High St, Boston, MA 02129

    CLOSED #BCS-00191715

Resolved. Thank you for your interest in increasing the tree canopy in the City of Boston! In order for the City of Boston's Urban Forestry Division to ensure the success of our new street trees, we require the property owner who directly abuts the sidewalk where the new pit and tree are being requested to be involved in the conversation about a new tree. Therefore, we ask that any New Tree Request for a new pit and tree comes from the actual abutting property owner. Once property ownership is confirmed the Urban Forestry Division can inspect the location for a new tree planting. If you know the property owner of this address, you can ask them to submit a New Tree Request with their contact information and we will be able to inspect the location and discuss any questions that may arise. New Tree Requests can be made via the 311 app, by calling 311, or by contacting the Urban Forestry Division by sending an email to trees@boston.gov or calling 617-635-8733. The best way to get information about Boston's street trees is by going to boston.gov/trees and reading about how to properly request a new street tree, to submit tree maintenance requests, and learn how to care for young street trees. Thank you again for your interest in Boston's urban forest!

  • Broken Sidewalk

16 Edgerly Pl, Boston, Ma, 02116

A long time ago the city dug into the ground outside my front door and displaced a number of our bricks. They replaced them with gravel filling which is an eyesore and dangerous for the disabled residents. We still have the bricks — please send someone as soon as possible to put them back in place.

Around 8:00 a.m. on April 15, 2026, I was walking near the public bus stop at the intersection of L Street and East Broadway in South Boston when I saw a large utility/service truck turn from L Street onto East Broadway. As it turned, the truck struck a parked black Hyundai SUV, knocking the vehicle’s front bumper completely off and leaving it on the street in front of the car. The truck continued on and parked a short distance away, and the driver then walked into a nearby Starbucks. I do not believe the driver realized they had hit the parked car. I took several photos of the damaged Hyundai, the displaced bumper, and the truck, including the truck’s license plate number (X37910). I am submitting this report so the appropriate city department can be notified and the vehicle owner can be contacted if possible. | Case (SR) Type: [BPD: Crime] Referred To: [POLICE: AREA C-6]

DANGEROUS TREE BRANCH - A nice large green tree on the city’s sidewalk outside our house has/had two big dead branches. The one circled in red in the attached picture fell on and crunched a car last night. The other, larger, dead branch that is circled in yellow in the picture is just waiting to fall on my children’s bedroom. Please remove this branch (but not the whole beautiful tree!) before that happens! We appreciate your help in keeping the city beautiful and safe :)
