47 Hawthorne St, Roslindale, Ma, 02131

Please schedule street sweeping for late morning once cars have moved/people have left for work, rather than 6:30 like this morning. Roslindale is one of the few (only 2 I believe) neighborhoods without posted street cleaning. The street sweeper whizzes through at high speed (I can hear it zipping by) and is unable to reach any curbs to sweep and have any effect. Please provide Roslindale with the same regular, reasonably timed sweeping service provided to the rest of the City. Thank you.

91 Chelsea St, East Boston, Ma, 02128

Good evening, I'd like to submit a formal complaint about the street cleaning in East Boston. I am a new resident to the area as of the last 2 months and I have never seen dirtier streets and more trash in any part of Boston. Each week I see the BTD towing cars and providing tickets, but the street sweepers are not doing their job. There is trash all over the streets of East Boston, especially Chelsea St. I'd like to submit this formal complaint and see if there is any plans to do normal street cleaning and also anything to help entourage the community to be more aware of their environment. Thank you for your help and making our city look more beautiful. Kris Hart, a concerned East Boston resident |

    CLOSED #101002189118

Case Noted. There are crews out everyday cleaning the streets in East Boston this is an ongoing battle. The part of Chelsea St. that you live on is swept by the Mechincal Street Sweeper every Thursday with the odd side posted for street cleaning on the 1st and 3rd Thursday and the even side posted for the 2nd and 4th Thursday and the scheduled time is from 12 noon to 4pm. We also send a hand crew periodically to Chelsea Street to be swept by hand. As far as helping to encourage the community about their enviroment you would have to reach out the the Neighboor Coordinator of East Boston and or the City Councilor for East Boston.

15 Birch St, Roslindale, Ma, 02131

Birch Street is a one way street and the first right off Corinth Street, from Sullivan's Pharmacy all the way up the hill to 70 Birch Street. This street has parking on one side, the right. From Sullivan's Pharmacy to the top of the hill never gets cleaned on the right side. It is always dirty with old leaves and full of trash on the sidewalk and cigarette butts from the smoking staff at Sullivan's. Can we please have the right hand side of the street cleaned? A street cleaner comes by in the summer months and cleans the left, Thank you |

    CLOSED #101001726601

Case Resolved. PWD Maint Crew was on site with leaf blowers and a City Sweeper was on site and all debris on the sidewalk and roadway has been removed (especially on the right side of the roadway) both sides of street have been mechanically swept. Entire street cleaned/ job is complete. PWD will check the street periodically and clean. Hopefully in the future you can try to get your neighbors to move their vehicles, because this street is scheduled to be swept every Friday starting April 1st.

Can you please tell me the street cleaning schedule for our street? Or what the schedule will be in 2016? thank you! |

    CLOSED #101001655851

Case Noted. Good afternoon, the street cleaning schedule for your street (Rustlewood Rd) is every Tuesday from April 1st to November 30th. PWD apologizes for the inconsistencies in this past season's schedule, but it was out of our hands due to equipment always breaking down (City Sweeper) and the heavy abundance of leaves all around the streets of West Roxbury. As of now, we still have our City Sweeper street cleaning until the first snow fall, so you may see the sweeper again next Tuesday (as long as the weather stays the same and the machine is up and running). But to answer your question, the schedule for 2016 is every Tuesday (April 1st to November 30th).

Intersection Of Bertson Ave And Lagrange St, West Roxbury, Ma

Bertson Avenue was swept yesterday, SUNDAY at 8:30 AM!! As we had no notice, every one of my neighbors who generally park their cars on the street in fact did have theirs on the street. I did, too. I surely hope that you do not pay the worker overtime or time + half for working on a Sunday. That would be a colossal waste of tax dollars. Coming that early on a Sunday meant that there was no opportunity for the job to be done even half-well because of all the parked cars, and we and others were awakened by the sound of the machine. Double annoyance. I know that Tuesday is our street cleaning day. Every Monday night I dutifully park elsewhere with the hope that the schedule is honored. We often go literally weeks before the truck comes by. We have been hearing for years that your equipment breaks down. On the other side of LaGrange Street we hear the street cleaning every week; that area is swept by a private contractor. Why can't the reliable private contractor be assigned to this neighborhood for a change? Finally, when does street sweeping end for the season? I bet it's December 1. That amounts to five Tuesdays. I'm willing to bet we will not see the sweeper any more than twice. I hope to be proven wrong. Thank you very much. Case Noted. First of all your street was not completely bad in terms of leaves, like over half of the other streets in this Dist are. Second of all, PWD has 1 Contract Sweeper and 1 City Sweeper. The Contract Sweeper has 2 other maps that have to be completed on Tuesdays, which is approx. 50 to 60 streets. PWD cannot help if our equipment fails. We send our equipment right down to our main offices once it goes down. It is out of our hands when and if we get it back within a timely fashion. Third of all, I sent our City Machine Sunday morning to your street per order of the Assistant Superintendent of Public Works to clean ASAP because of the original complaint. The Assistant Superintendent told me to send the City Machine right away at approx 7AM, however I waited a little while because it was a Sunday morning and did not want to cause a nuisance. I understand your frustration, but we do the best we can. We will try to have a Sweeper up there every Tuesday to clean whether its the Contract Sweeper or City.

10 Dartmouth Pl, Boston, Ma, 02116

Recently parking restriction signs were put up on our block for street sweeping. Every 2nd and 4th Wed 8:00am-12:00pm. No street sweeper came by today within those hours. This is the second time this has happened since this has been put in effect. At 12:00, restrictions go in effect around the corner on Appleton, so everyone moved their cars over to our street. Now, at 2:00 the sweeper just went down our street and was only able to clean one side of the street. This infuriates me because I swept the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street (back of Appleton properties) and pulled weeds throwing them into the street to be swept up. Since there are all cars on the street again from Appleton, the sweeper is not able to clean them up, leaving them making more of a mess until at a future time when no cars are there I can clean it up. Why have parking regulations when the sweeper doesn't adhere to them? These new signs have caused a lot of stress on our street. They were put up as the result of one neighbor questioning why we didn't have street cleaning over 3 years ago, and were put up with no notice. Dartmouth Place is a short dead end street in the South End. One of the major reasons we purchased our place, aside from the location, quietness and charm it has, was the fact that there were no parking restrictions. We either walk or use public transportation during the week and only use our car on weekends. When we moved in, it was explained to us that we as a neighborhood community clean up the street ourselves. This impressed us even more. Some of our neighbors have lived on Dartmouth Place for over 30 years and have never had any problems with keeping the street clean. There are a few of us who routinely sweep and weed to keep the street looking nice. There is no need for these parking restrictions especially when the street isn't cleaned during those hours. Please follow up with the street maintenance department explaining how important it is to keep to their schedule. Parking is a problem all around this city and situations like this do not make it any better. I don't understand why we are forced to have our street swept, requiring us to have parking restrictions when you have a neighborhood that is willing, able and HAS BEEN taking care of it in the past. Sincerely, John Carroll-Yagel |

10 Grovenor Rd, Jamaica Plain, Ma, 02130

See other note above. We do not have regularly scheduled street sweeping on Grovenor Road and, as a consequence, it is really very messy. Collectively, we would like to have the street sweeper come if the city is willing and able to coordinate a date with us when we will move our cars and prevent non-residents from parking as well, so that the street-sweeper can make a run down the street. We really appreciate your assistance. Thanks! |
