General Traffic Engineering Request
Intersection Of Amory St And Green St, Jamaica PlainConstituent reported that the current design of the intersection is dangerous, esp during traffic hours. Const stated that the pedestrians get the okay to walk while the vehicles get the green light to turn. Const is requesting that this is reviewed. Const stated that possibly making it a 4 way intersection would so that all pedestrians can cross at once. |
CLOSED · #101006297787Case Noted. As part of Boston 2030 some traffic signals are being changed from an exclusive pedestrian sequence (all walk) to a concurrent pedestrian sequence. This signal is designed in conformance with BTD Guidelines which specify a system of walk lights in conformance with federal safety standards and widely used throughout the country. Under this system it is possible to provide longer "Walk" times and shorter delays to vehicles and pedestrians. During the green light for vehicles "Walk" signals are on for pedestrians crossing parallel to the flow of traffic. Under this system turning traffic must yield to pedestrians.

Intersection Of Centre St And Burroughs St, Jamaica PlainWhen the light is green for burroughs st to turn onto centre st in JP, the walk signal should not turn on. The light is green. Cars can't drive straight there. They can only turn right or left. The walk signal should be when all lights are red.

Intersection Of Arborway And South St, Jamaica Plain
Dangerous crossing. Pedestrians are crossing while drivers can turn. I realize that both have a green light. It would be good if traffic light for vehicles did not turn green at the same time as pedestrians cross. When there is a lot of traffic in the afternoon drivers do not want to stop. Also, in the past I was told this is street/crossing is under state jurisdiction. So unsafe!

Intersection Of Everett St And N Beacon St, AllstonThe traffic light here forces pedestrians to cross through turning traffic. It feels unsafe as a pedestrian. Also please add the third crosswalk so you are not forced to cross multiple streets in series to cross one street.

NO SAFETY CROSSING. Cars gets green light and pedestrian get walk--more like run signal. Does every time a car hits a person get 10 points? Why is it playing with people lives? This is not a frogger game. Please place safety first.
