- New nightmare bike lane going on at exit 18 mass pike/ Boston liquors. Desperately needs white and black stripping for night time. You used to be able to pull across and there’s no indication that you can’t anymore. Someone already took the sign down at the end of it. My mom and I went off the road and are extremely hurt from hitting the new high curb that now dominates the second lane that used to be there. Who the hell commissioned this? I saw a Honda HRV break it’s tire rod clear off this morning from doing the same thing in broad daylight. I have seen three failures in 2 weeks. I’m a human factors engineer and this is a disastrous engineering failure to allow bikes to cross in front of those exiting to the MassPike. They didn’t need to take 2 whole lanes for a bike lane. There’s plenty of space. Coming off exit 18, they changed the merge and it makes no sense that the folks that have a blind spot have the yield. Put a mirror on the exit so we can at least try to not smash into each other. This design is a disaster, set up to hurt people in motor vehicles instead of making the roads safer for bikers and vehiclists. -A Furious Allston Resident
