Description
I have tried to register this complaint regarding the Boston Public Health Commission police force to the Division of Police Standards at the Massachusetts POST Commission, but they will not act. As such, I'm registering the complaint here: Hi - I wanted to bring to your attention something I witnessed at 2:30pm on Saturday September 2nd, involving a Boston Public Health Commission Police vehicle that nearly caused a traffic accident. This occurred in West Roxbury on Centre Street, traveling westbound just ahead of the intersection with Belgrade. The officer was double parked in the outer lane to perform an errand, likely buying lunch given the stores in this area. Cars were waiting in the inner lane at the Belgrade red light intersection. Upon completing his errand, and the light turning green, the officer briefly flipped on his flashing lights, and cut in front of the line of cars in the inside lane who were beginning to move forward, nearly causing a collision. He just wanted to use his emergency lights to cut ahead of everyone else and turn left. I have the incident on video, but the quality isn't good enough to discern the license plate number. The police cruiser does have a marker in the left rear side window that says "Sector 2." By the way, the date stamp in the bottom of the video says "2020" which is just an old setting on my dashcam. The incident took place on September 2nd. Needless to say, police abuse of power and trust does nothing to foster good relations with the taxpayers who are meant to be served. It made me wonder why we have such an obscure police force in the first place, but that's another matter. Perhaps through your organization you can counsel this person and let them know that cameras are everywhere, and that this kind of behavior at the very least is a poor look, and at worst is a traffic hazard.
