- I was at Panda Fest on the Plaza all day today, Sunday, starting at 10am. Throughout the entire day, we only saw the same 2 people doing all the trash work all day. It was a Hispanic woman, in a yellow sweatshirt, and a Hispanic man. They were pushing around a black trash bin on wheels. They were very nice & friendly. We asked if they could point us to the closest trash can, because we couldn’t find any on the event grounds. They opened a trash’s bag for us, and let us put our trash in their cart on wheels. All off the other trash workers dressed in the same uniforms, (it had a city of boston seal in the corner of the shirt. I couldn’t make out what it said under the seal) were sitting around on their phones. This was disappointing as there was lots of trash on the grounds due to lack of trash receptacles. We could only find 2 trash barrels for the whole event. All other barrels were taken out of the metal housing that they were in, and the barrels themselves were flipped over with no bags, so we couldn’t use them. The 2 workers who did the bulk of the trash work today should be commended for their dedication. Management should really discipline the others who sat around doing nothing. There’s no excuse for stealing a paycheck, especially when it’s tax payer’s money. Overall, the event was fun and I hope you bring it back next year. Maybe just spread things out a little. People were on top of each other with long lines being side by side.
