- For several weeks now, the trash collectors in the north end, north square area are not cleaning up any spilled trash. I believe it is now because they are parking the truck at one spot in North Square and walking down the street to get the trash rather than driving the truck to each pickup location. Because of this, they do not have the broom readily available to sweep up the trash and throw in the truck.(instead the way they are doing it now, would require the worker to walk all the way back to the truck, which he is not doing.) unfortunately because trash is left curbside in the north end it’s impossible to stop rats and seagulls from getting into the bags occasionally, causing the trash to spill. When I witnessed this happening this morning (trash left all over the ground) I asked the worker if he could please sweep it up, and he shrugged and walked away. Would please ask that 1) this be cleaned up and 2) reminder be sent to the collectors to clean up any spilled trash, especially in this high foot traffic / high tourist area.
