Noted. Thank you for your interest in the City of bostons Urban Forestry. Young trees are under warranty for 2 years from the date they were planted. In that time frame, the planting contractor is responsible for maintaining and watering the trees. After that point, they are not routinely watered. With over 50,000 street trees throughout the city, it is not feasible for the City to water every tree. Therefore we ask property owners if they are willing, to help maintain tree pits and water the trees during times of drought.
