Description
I am writing to raise a concern regarding the ventilation system in the bathroom of my condo unit, and other condo units at Brookley Flats. While there is a vent present, it has become clear that this vent does not exhaust air to the outside. Based on a review of Massachusetts health and building codes, this setup is non-compliant and must be addressed to ensure both health and legal safety standards are met. In my unit: There is no operable window or skylight in the bathroom, and The existing vent does not exhaust air outside, making it non-compliant. 1. State Sanitary Code – 105 CMR 410.280 & 410.220 "Every room used by occupants... and every room containing a toilet, bathtub or shower shall have natural or mechanical ventilation to the outdoors." A recirculating fan or vent that does not expel air outdoors is not acceptable. The bathroom must have mechanical ventilation to the outdoors if there is no window. ?? 105 CMR 410.280 – Natural and Mechanical Ventilation | Any children under 6 years of age: [No] Move in date: [09/01/2025] Owner's name and contact info: [Tenant: Princess Ojukwu 10 Stonley Rd Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Phone: 857.257.6342] Occupants name and contact info: [Princess Ojukwu 10 Stonley Rd Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Phone: 857.257.6342] Written rental agreement: [No] Owner's name and contact info: [TBD] Occupants name and contact info: [Princess Ojukwu] Written rental agreement: [No]
