Description
I would like to report a pedestrian safety issue. I walk home from the financial district to the Seaport via Oliver Street and it is challenging to safely walk during rush hour due to the traffic patterns. At the time the pedestrian walk sign is lit to cross Purchase street (magenta lines on attached map), there's a green light for Purchase Street at Pearl Street (highlighted in green). As cars frequently run the red light on purchase street, this means that cars are continuing despite the pedestrian walk sign being lit. This issue is more dangerous on evenings when a police officer, standing at the Palm restaurant (black "X" on map) encourages vehicles to continue even when it would result in the blocking the intersection. I respectfully ask that the patterns are examined to make the area safer for pedestrians. I also ask that this issue be brought to the attention of the police, with the hopes that they are aware of the increased danger that is being caused.
