- Dear Boston ISD, My name is Ronald Adams, and I’m currently staying as a guest with my friend at 111 Atlantic Ave, Boston, MA 02110. I’m reaching out because I’ve noticed a few things in the unit that are making me worried about our safety, and I’m hoping to get your guidance. I’m not the tenant or leaseholder, so I apologize if I’m contacting the wrong department — I just didn’t want to ignore something that might be important. Inside the unit, I see: A device on the ceiling that looks like a commercial fire alarm strobe, but I don’t see a regular apartment smoke detector anywhere. I also don’t see a carbon monoxide detector. There are some ceiling openings near the sprinkler piping where dust or particles sometimes fall. I might be misunderstanding what these devices are, and I completely respect that your office would know better than I do. I just wanted to reach out because I’ve been feeling unwell and didn’t want to overlook something that could affect my friend or the building. If possible, could someone advise me on whether an inspection is needed, or what steps we should take next? Thank you very much for your time.
