Description
Hi, I would like to use this as an opportunity to make a suggestion for a solution instead of reporting problems. I live on Dartmouth Place in the South End. On trash days, some residents of the city go through peoples recycling bags looking for cans. I understand they are doing this likely for financial assistance and I feel they have that right. I would like for them to have a better way of retrieving the cans/bottles for their public health and to prevent litter in the street. Like we have the green compost bins, could the city provide bins that the neighbors could deposit their aluminum cans and redeemable bottles to make is easier for those that wish to pick up recycling? I have seen public trash cans in the city of Copenhagen that have shelves on the outside where people can leave cans for those that wish to gather them for money. I think the specific recycling bins on each of the city streets and updated garbage bins with a shelf for cans/bottles would benefit all environmentally and from a public heath perspective. I hope you will please consider this solution.
