Description
ATTENTION ATTENTION: CITY OF BOSTON, BOSTON TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT CHIEF OF STREETS JASCHA FRANKLIN-HODGES AND NICK GROVE, on behalf of the Uphams Corner Community could you please send someone out to repair \ replace \fix\ correct this ongoing public safety and decrease quality of life problem. Over the weekend between Saturday 01-10-26 and Sunday morning a traveling motor vehicle struck this inherently, dangerous, and hazardous protruding middle Island. In the pictures attached you can clearly see the displaced orange cone, which words in the front of this inherently dangerous and hazardous protruding Middle Street Island and now it's at the rear knock down. This community have submitted over 10 to 15 City of Boston 311 complaints on this dangerous matter without response. Our community is extremely concerned about this dangerous and hazardous inherently misaligned street Middle Island. In the past we have had a multitude of motor vehicle strike this inherently dangerous and misaligned middle Street Island we've had a couple of vehicles that flipped over after striking this misaligned middle Street Island in numerous property damage to flat tires. If people are not reporting it more likely it is because they're embarrassed that they struck an inherently dangerous and hazardous misalign middle Street Island. Who wants to say they ran over a curve. If you look at engine 21s report in the past they responded to cars being flipped over at that location and probably other incidents where injuries were involved. This community has reached out to your cabinet and you numerous times without response or acknowledgment that this problem exists. This community has reached out to Boston Public Works Department PWD without response or corrective safety measures. We're not clear what it's going to take to get the attention of this administration and your cabinet to not only acknowledge the communities concerned but come out and apply corrective safety measures. This community is committed to seeing safety improvement on this issue to completion. The community is certainly willing and able to work as a collective efficacy body to get this matter resolved. But it starts with at least you guys responding to our concerns and explaining what is factual and what is not factual what can be done and what cannot be done and given us a time frame. I went tenacity will be unwavering and continuous. Recently within this month the safety signage was knocked down again. Disappears to be in an ongoing monthly or bi-monthly problem. Even with the sign people are still striking this misaligned inherently dangerous middle street island. You can find this sign behind the building of 556 Columbia Road as pictured. Also if you noticed in the pictures where our resident took the initiative to paint the dangerous middle Island end to warn people about its present also you notice the signage is gone because it was struck. Notice the gouges in the paint after it was painted. We are hoping this administration is not waiting until a City of Boston resident or visitor traveling public motorist is severely injured or killed. Location: at the corner of Hancock Street and Columbia Road on Columbia Road in between the Historical Strand Theater and Pilgrim Church. Pardon any grammatical mistakes.
