Description: Code Violation & Safety Hazard – Exterior Lighting at 1701 Washington St Boston MA 02118. I am reporting a severe safety and habitability issue regarding the high-intensity exterior lighting at 1701 Washington St. The floodlights on this building are aimed directly into my apartment, creating a significant 'light trespass' issue. The high-intensity exterior lights are currently positioned at an angle that creates blinding glare directly at eye level within my home and the adjacent walkway. This creates a severe risk of injury and falls. Because the light is so intense, it causes 'disability glare,' making it impossible to see stairs or obstacles clearly when moving through the apartment. This is a blinding light hazard that creates a slip-and-fall liability for the city. This violates Boston Zoning Code Article 10 regarding light spill and the State Sanitary Code for safe habitation. Requesting an immediate inspection by Inspectional Services (ISD) to mitigate the risk of injury.
