- Description
- The entire neighborhood along Cummings Hwy, including the side streets such as Brockton, Favre, Savannah, Itasca, and other were plowed very poorly, creating unsafe conditions for residents. The snowbanks left behind make entering and exiting these streets extremely dangerous. With the recent redesigns already narrowing many of these entrances and exits, adding large snow piles has made the situation even worse. This isn’t just limited to one area. Mattapan in general was not handled well during this storm. While some of the snow and snow piles have since receded, the city needs to do significantly better. Years ago, when we had more frequent snowstorms under a different administrations, the plowing and snow‑removal process was far more effective. It would be worthwhile for the city to review what practices were in place then and consider implementing similar strategies going forward. Residents deserve safe, accessible streets after a storm, and this recent effort fell short.
