- Description
- Cause of damage: [Other] Type of repair: [Other] Specify: [Report submitted via email, Mass DOT states this is City responsibility: The road design is confusing for pedestrians at the triangle between Boylston Street, St. Cecilia Street, and the slip lane for Cambria Street in Back Bay, Boston. MassDOT created a confusing triangle for pedestrians between these three roads that has no crosswalks and no curb cuts. Because of this road design, it’s not possible for pedestrians to walk from the corner of Dalton and Boylston to Mass Ave and Boylston without crossing without a crosswalk. This creates desire paths crossing the triangle. Not safe for pedestrians and particularly unsafe for anyone that is mobility impaired, due to lack of curb cuts. Could create crosswalks and/or remove slip lane for Cambria Street to make this intersection safer and more logically constructed. Happy to share photos of the design as well as demonstration of the desire paths created by it. Thank you for reading.]
