- Description
- Apparently nothing is ever going to be accomplished to make it safe to cross at LaGrange St and Westmount Ave in West Roxbury. Something needs to be done and it needs to be done before a pedestrian (namely me) gets hit. I don't want to hear excuses from the Transportation Department that there is adequate signs for the crosswalk. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO PUSH A BUTTON TO CROSS SAFELY. Maybe Wu needs to come out again and not just 2 days before the primary acting all concerned.

Case Noted. Before BTD considers a "pushbutton" referred to as an RRF (Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon), BTD would install LED pedestrian warning signs at locations that are difficult to see as at LaGrange St. and Dent Street, at locations that are at or near elderly housing, schools, etc. If we were to install them everywhere, then the LED's would not be as effective. That is why the standard "high" intensity signs are used. These signs are visible to vehicles and are usually accompanied with advance warning signs. Pedestrians, when in an unsignalized crosswalk, has the right of way. If vehicles are not yielding, to the pedestrians, then it is a moving violation. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.
