Description
I am writing a formal request for the Boston Transportation Department to designate the small curb area between my driveway at 490 Medford Street and the adjoining driveway at 488 Medford Street as a "No Parking" zone. While it is a small space, parking there has created several hazardous conditions for our community: Pedestrian Safety: Because our section of the road is on a curve, parked cars create a significant blind spot. Drivers coming around the bend cannot see pedestrians crossing or walking near the curb until they are dangerously close. Commercial Traffic Bottlenecks: Medford Street is a frequent route for large trucks traveling to Terminal Street. When cars are parked in this narrow gap, it dangerously constricts the lane, forcing these heavy vehicles to maneuver awkwardly, often drifting into oncoming traffic to pass. Safe Egress: It is nearly impossible to safely pull out of our driveways when a vehicle is blocking the line of sight to oncoming traffic. We have already experienced multiple accidents and near-misses in this specific spot. This is a "Daylighting" harzard. This will also"prevent lane constriction for heavy transit to Terminal Street" Thank you!
