Description
Crosswalk Accessibility Issue-- In front of 1 Ashburton Pl. Boston, MA 02108. This crosswalk is heavily used by employees and students in the neighboring gov offices and Suffolk campus buildings, however cars frequently speed through the crosswalk without noticing it as there are NO warning lights to signal people crossing and only one sign that is barely visible to oncoming traffic because it is frequently blocked by parked cars. I have a blind colleague that experiences difficulty crossing without the assistance of a button with audible cues and have noticed other disabled employees who struggle to cross this intersection to get to the office as cars pass by at unsafe speeds and vehicles parked in front of the building block views of pedestrians waiting to cross. I am requesting that crosswalk signs with hazard lights and audible cues are installed at this intersection to increase accessibility and provide necessary accommodations to the folks with disabilities working at the nearby offices that depend on this crosswalk. Also, for the crosswalk to be potentially re-painted for higher visibility. The general public would overall benefit from safer crosswalk visibility from the oncoming traffic. Thank you so much.
