CLOSED #101006619040

Case Noted. Hello, During a recent review, we discovered this request has been opened for an unusual amount of time, and would like to address it. The crosswalk in question was a temporary one installed during construction. If you are interested in a new crosswalk at this location, BTD can take this location under advisement, depending on the safety context, and the number of residents who reach out. Mercer St is slated to receive speed humps in the next few years based on our criteria. We evaluated each area for its safety history, demographics (higher numbers of children, older adults, and people with a disability), if there are parks, schools, community centers nearby, plans for repaving and ramp construction, and needs otherwise identified by the residents of the neighborhood. We are glad that we are able to bring this important safety intervention to your area. However, for East Eighth St we share your concerns about making the City’s streets safer. Everyone should have a safe street where they feel comfortable and free from concerns of speeding cars. We are working to bring speed humps to our neighborhood streets, and it will take time to get this work done. Our program is being updated to better match the needs of the community. Reaching out to your neighborhood's ONS liaison is a great way to make your feedback heard as part of this process. We will continue to work to slow traffic and offer safety interventions across the City of Boston. We appreciate you sharing your feedback on your street and will include it as we continue strengthening our program. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.

Description
Where is the crosswalk on 8th & Mercer?? It’s unsafe to cross the street there. 8th street is another death waiting to happen. Weird curb cuts, cars speeding around the corner. Put speed humps, crosswalks to protect the people paying a fortune to live here.
